Phase 3: Wellness Care

Maintenance is Key to Healthy Living

Once your body has fully healed, routine chiropractic care can help ensure your physical problems do not return and keep your body in optimal condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits of exercise and proper diet, it is necessary to continue chiropractic care to ensure the health of your musculoskeletal system.

In most cases, it has taken years for particular muscles to develop an incorrect pattern of behavior and cause symptoms that we notice.  Sometimes this pattern is so deep set that the body tries to return to it even after symptoms have cleared up. One of the goals of "Maintenance" or "Wellness" Care is to catch areas of muscle and joint malfunction before they become a problem and thus to remind the body that it does not have to revert to previously learned patterns.

The frequency of Maintenance/Wellness visits is highly variable.  As was the case with a person's response to initial care, it depends on age, general physical condition, how well one has kept up with prescribed stretches and exercises, stress level, new injuries and so on.   Some find monthly visits to be helpful while others can go for three or four months between "tuneups."  Dr. Johnson will work with you to determine what frequency of care is essential for your body and the way you use it!
